Lakeland Mini-Mites take First and Second Place at Mt. Pleasant Tournament
The Lakeland Fireballs and Pirates participated in their first tournament February 22-24 in Mt. Pleasant. The Pirates kicked off the “Get into the Cold” tournament against the Mt. Pleasant Patriots winning, 3-0. Next up, the Fireballs soundly defeated the Livingston Lightening Bolts, 7-1.
On Saturday morning, the two Lakeland teams faced off against each other like they have so many times during the season. As usual, the game was neck-and-neck and tied up in the final seconds, when the Fireballs scored at the buzzer to win, 3-2.
The Fireballs and Pirates went on in the afternoon to defeat the Patriots and the Lightening Bolts respectively and advanced to the finals against each other on Sunday. Meanwhile, Saturday and throughout the weekend both Lakeland teams met up with their friends in the hotel pool and common areas to have fun and leave the competition behind on the ice. A great time was had by all.
Sunday, the competition was back on when the Fireballs and Pirates faced each other in the final round. The Fireballs won with a 3-0 shut out. All players took home individual trophies and medals. Both teams secured large trophies for the Lakeland trophy case. Way to go Lakeland Mini-mites!

Squirt A Hawks WIN 50th annual Preston International Hockey Tournament in Cambridge, Ontario Canada.
Congratulations to Coach Kinal and his mighty team. The winning game score was 3-2 over Hespeler (local Cambridge team). The winning goal was scored by Paul Washe with 16.6 seconds left in regulation.
